WICHITA, Kan. – In a hard-fought match at Adair-Austin Stadium, the Falcons managed to secure a 1-1 draw against Ottawa on Tuesday evening.
After a scoreless first half where both teams struggled to break through defensively, Friends finally got on the scoreboard early in the second half. In the 47th minute, Caique Pereira found the back of the net, assisted by Nathanial Stephens, giving the Falcons a 1-0 lead. However, Ottawa responded just 10 minutes later. Toby Witham equalized for the Braves in the 58th minute, finishing off an assist from Jack Hatswell.
Despite both teams having several opportunities to score, the game remained level, with each team's goalkeeper stepping up to preserve the draw. Friends' Stryker Kelly made five saves throughout the match, while Ottawa's Nicolo Cinelli also registered five saves.
Friends outshot Ottawa 12-8 but couldn't find the winning goal as Ottawa held firm defensively in the closing stages.
The Falcons will now look ahead to their next conference matchup as they continue to battle for position in the KCAC standings.
