Leavenworth, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons pushed their KCAC unbeaten streak to 17 matches with a 1-0 victory at the University of Saint Mary Spires tonight (Oct. 2) in Leavenworth, Kan. The Falcons haven't lost a regular season game to a KCAC opponent since falling 3-2 to these same Spires in the 2022 regular season finale (Oct. 29).
The Falcons got an early goal from Lina Willemsen just over three minutes into the match and made that stand the rest of the night. Anahi Ibarra-Arevalo assisted on the goal by Willemsen at the 2:07 mark.
Helping the Falcons (7-2, 4-0 KCAC) maintain that one-goal margin was seven saves in the net by Morgan Wilkinson.
Marisol Vargas made six saves for the Spires, who are now 5-4-1 and 3-2 in the KCAC.
Friends outshot Saint Mary 13-12 overall and 9-8 on-goal.
The Falcons will next host McPherson College on Homecoming Saturday (Oct. 5) for a 7:30 pm kickoff at Adair-Austin Stadium.
