WICHITA, Kan. – For the fifth time of the 2023-24 season, Friends University junior forward Taylor Jackson is the KCAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced today (Jan. 29). Jackson wins the award for the fourth time in the last five weeks and 14th overall for her career.

"Taylor continues to excel," said Friends women's basketball head coach Dean Jaderston.  "We lead the conference in defensive field goal percentage and a big reason is Taylor. She protects the rim so well that it enables our perimeter players to guard better and provide more pressure. Game after game she continues to have a major impact on what teams try to do. It's great she's being recognized so consistently this year."

Jackson, the Friends University modern-era blocks leader, swatted away an average of four shots per game in the Falcons' two victories this past week. She also had four defensive rebounds per game and 6.5 boards overall.

For the season, Jackson is tops in the KCAC and second in the NAIA with 2.75 blocks per game and is also first in the league in defensive rebounding (6.7).

Speaking to her two-way production, Jackson also eclipsed the 1,000 career point mark in Saturday evening's victory over Kansas Wesleyan University.

The Falcons, winners of seven straight overall, will next play at McPherson College Wednesday evening (Jan. 31) at 6 pm in McPherson, Kan.
