WICHITA, Kan. – The well-deserved recognition keeps coming in for Friends University forward Taylor Jackson with her third straight KCAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week honor, the conference office announced today (Jan. 15). It's the fourth award this season and 13th career nod for the Falcons' standout defender.
To earn this most recent hononr, Jackson put together another stellar defensive performance in leading the Falcons to a 2-0 record in the KCAC this past week.
A native of Houston, Texas, Jackson tallied five defensive rebounds per game and 4.5 blocks, highlighted by a seven-block effort to help the Falcons win a 79-75 battle and snap the team's 12-game losing skid to Sterling College.
Jackson is still tops in the KCAC in defensive rebounding (6.9) and is tied for first in the league with 2.6 blocks per game on the season. Within the NAIA, Jackson is eighth in rebounding and second in blocks. She is also the Falcons' modern-era career leader in blocks with 245 swats for her career.
"Taylor continues to impact the game in so many ways," said Friends women's basketball head coach Dean Jaderston. "Her consistency on the defensive end changes how opponents have to play every game."
Jackson and the Falcons are 11-5 overall this season and currently sit in the third spot in the KCAC with an 8-2 league record.
Up next, the Falcons will play at Oklahoma Wesleyan University Wednesday evening (Jan. 17) at 6 pm in Bartlesville, Okla.
