Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Larosee’s first career hat trick fuels Women’s Soccer Falcons 5-0 romp at McPherson

McPherson, Kan. – The prolific junior scorer had scored a goal in her first career six games and two goals in six different matches, but today Keily Larosee broke through with her first career hat trick and propelled the Friends University Falcons to a 5-0 victory at the McPherson College Bulldogs today (Sept. 30) in McPherson, Kan.  The win keeps the Falcons unbeaten in the KCAC with a 4-0-1 mark along with a 5-3-2 overall record.

"After the game I had to ask Keily if it was her first hat trick, I wasn't sure," said Friends women's soccer head coach Brent Hobson. "Which it was, but she's a proven goal scorer and someone that we count on consistently. Her competitive drive and determination to score goals is incredible."

Larosee wasted no time getting the Falcons going, scoring in the third minute of action from Hanon Nakagami.

It stayed 1-0 through the remainder of the first half until the Falcons hit the Bulldogs with a barrage after halftime, starting with Larosee's second goal from Nakagami again just over three minutes into the second stanza.

In the 52nd minute, it was Nakagami's turn to get in the scorebook with a goal from both Larosee and Yairee Perez to stretch the lead to three goals.

"We didn't necessarily play our best first half but that being said I think we came out in the second half and put the game away with two early goals," said Hobson.

Larosee then completed her first career hat trick in the 69th minute before Shi'Amber Boyer put the finishing touches on the big victory with her first career goal with just one second left in the match.

"I want to give a shout-out to ShiAmber on scoring her first career goal," said Hobson. "She scored with one second left, really cool moment for her senior year."

The final numbers reflect the Falcons' level of dominance today, holding the Bulldogs without a shot-on-goal while recording 14 shots-on-goal themselves along with a 21-3 edge in overall shot attempts.

Current KCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Morgan Wilkinson started at goalkeeper for the Falcons and the played the full 90 minutes, with Lauren Kunda making nine saves with five goals allowed for McPherson.

The Falcons will next face a stern test Wednesday evening (Oct. 4) at No. 10-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University starting at 5:30 pm in Bartlesville, Okla.
