Bartlesville, Okla. – The Friends University Falcons brought their A game to Bartlesville, Okla. and came away with a 1-1 tie at the No. 9-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles to snap a 10-game losing streak in the series tonight (Oct. 5) in KCAC action.

The draw leaves both the Falcons and Eagles unbeaten atop the KCAC standings, with Friends at 4-0-2 in the league and OKWU at 6-0-1.

"I just told the group after the game, I'm just extremely proud of their effort tonight," said Friends women's soccer head coach Brent Hobson. "We battled for 90 minutes, so many good individual performances but that's a solid result for us on the road."

The Falcons overcame a 19-7 deficit in overall shot attempts and played the Eagles to a standstill throughout the night, finishing the first half in a scoreless tie.

OKWU produced the first score on a goal from Martina Cordova in the 60th minute, only to have the Falcons answer right back when Hanon Nakagami fired a shot into the back of the net from Gianna Honda in the 73rd minute to square the match.

"Hanon's goal was special, incredible effort from distance," noted Hobson.

That's where things would end as Keily Larosee had a shot for the Falcons immediately after Nakagami's goal and the Eagles managed to launch five shot attempts, including one that bounced off the crossbar at the 80:02 mark.

Larosee led the Falcons with four shots and two on-goal, while Tania Mocholi had match-high totals of six shots and four shots-on-goal for OKWU.

Morgan Wilkinson had four saves at goalkeeper for the Falcons and Aida Sanchez stopped two shots for the Eagles.

The Falcons will next return home and host Sterling College Saturday night (Oct. 7) at 7:30 pm at Adair-Austin Stadium.

"It's a good result but we have to keep our focus on the next game," said Hobson. "We'll do some recovery tomorrow and be ready to go for Saturday."
