WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons fell in straight sets to the Evangel University Valor in their KCAC opener tonight (Sept. 20) inside the Garvey Center.
After the Valor cruised to 25-16 and 25-11 wins in the first two sets, the Falcons fought back in the third.
The Falcons stayed close throughout and eventually saved two match points on a kill by Abigail Ellermann and an attack error before a kill from Vivianna Sanchez finished out the win for the Valor 25-22.
Grace McClintock had a team-high seven kills for the Falcons and Zoey Tauanu'u led the team with 10 assists. Antonia Perier came through with a match-high 27 digs for Friends.
Evangel got a match-high 13 kills from Bella Wakley and a combined 33 assists from Leah Jackson (17 assists) and Jessica Pritchett (16 assists). Mackenzie Stoner produced a team-best 20 digs for the Valor.
The Falcons will next be at Bethel College for a 1 pm start Saturday (Sept. 23) in North Newton, Kan.
