Box Score Oskaloosa, Iowa – The William Penn University Statesmen scored two goals in the final 45 minutes to snap a 1-1 gridlock and win 3-1 over the Friends University Falcons today (Aug. 26) in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
The Falcons had grabbed an early lead when Sora Shibata assisted on Caique Pereira's first career goal in the 16th minute of action.
William Penn then evened the score with a goal late in the first half and a goal by Miguel Menendez gave the Statesmen the lead for good in the 12th minute of the second half.
Another goal at the 78:25 mark sealed the win for William Penn.
The Falcons were outshot 19-8 overall, including a 7-3 deficit on-goal.
In his first career start at goalkeeper, Just Guittin made four saves for the Falcons (0-2). Sean Bohan stopped a pair of shots for William Penn, who improves to 3-0 on the season.
Friends will now open the home portion of the 2023 campaign next Saturday (Sept. 2) evening at 6:30 pm vs. Benedictine College.
