WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University junior forward Taylor Jackson has been voted as the KCAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and 11th time overall for her career, the conference office announced today (Dec. 18).
"Taylor continues to change the way opponents play," said Friends women's basketball head coach Dean Jaderston. "Her ability to control the boards and both block and alter shots is the anchor of our defense!"
Jackson had a solid all-around defensive game in the Falcons' near upset bid of No. 23-ranked College of the Ozarks Lady Bobcats on Friday evening (Dec. 15).
Jackson tallied six defensive rebounds, two steals and one block as the Falcons carried a one-point lead into the fourth quarter before the nationally ranked Lady Bobcats pulled it out in the final period.
A native of Houston, Texas, Jackson is tops in the KCAC in defensive boards (6.9) this season and is second in blocked shots (2.1 bpg).
Following the Christmas Break, Jackson and the Falcons will host Missouri Valley College on Dec. 30 for a 3 pm tip-off inside the Garvey Center.
