Women’s Soccer Falcons explode across the board in 6-0 win over Sterling

WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons remained unbeaten in KCAC play with an emphatic 6-0 victory over the Sterling College Warriors tonight (Oct. 7) at Adair-Austin Stadium.

The win keeps the Falcons in second in the KCAC at 5-0-2, just behind Oklahoma Wesleyan University, who has played an extra game and are 6-0-2 in the league.

"I thought we controlled the game really well tonight," said Friends women's soccer head coach Brent Hobson. "Nia (Baker) had a good save early in the game that might get overlooked, it was their only chance but she handled it really well."

Keily Larosee and Yairee Perez were involved in a little bit of everything throughout the night, with the duo first teaming up on Larosee's goal at the 9:29 mark to open the scoring for the Falcons.

Hanon Nakagami then got free down the middle and took a feed from Lauryn Erickson to chip in the Falcons' second goal for a 2-0 lead at the 23:26 mark.

In the seventh minute of the second half, Perez got into the scoring act on an assist from Natalie Amaya for a 3-0 cushion.

It stayed that score until the Falcons caught fire for three goals in a five minute span, including a pair of scores just 45 seconds apart.

Larosee was the facilitator of the surge, assisting on all three scores for a career-best three helpers on the night.

The first goal of the explosion was Nakagami's career-high tying second score of the match, also assisted by Perez at the 74:04 mark.

Natalie Amaya then broke through for a career-best two goals, with the first coming at the 74:49 mark and the final score occurring in the 79th minute.

"Natalie was very good on the ball tonight," said Hobson. "She's a quick player that is tough to defend one on one. This year Keily is just finding ways to impact the game, a solid night for her getting three assists."

The Falcons indeed controlled the match, outshooting the Warriors 23-5 overall and 12-3 on-goal.

Baker finished with three saves, with Dixie Morgan stopping five shots for Sterling.
