Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Falcons fall at No. 11 Oklahoma Wesleyan on stormy night in Bartlesville

Bartlesville, Okla. – In a match that featured a lengthy weather delay just past the midway point of the first half, the No. 11-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles hit the Friends University Falcons with an offensive flurry to win 7-1 in a KCAC matchup tonight (Oct. 4) in Bartlesville, Okla.

Joao Neves assisted on a goal by Matheus Ulrich for the first goal of the night at the 19 minute mark before scoring himself at the 23:17 mark for a 2-0 OKWU lead.

With 26 minutes left in the opening half, the weather delay hit before action was ultimately resumed at 9:05 pm.

Once the match was restarted, that seemed to ignite the Eagles as Pol Mur struck for goals in the 32nd and 38th minutes to suddenly stretch the OKWU edge to four goals.

Stefan Cvetanovic then gave the Eagles a 5-0 lead with a score with just 2:35 left in the first half.

Sora Shibata got the Falcons on the board with his team-leading eighth goal of the season, but the momentum was short-lived as Neves scored his second goal for the Eagles less than three minutes later.

Filip Cavic then finished out the scoring with a goal at the 67:44 mark for OKWU.

The Falcons were out-shot 26-4 and 16-4 on-goal for the match, with Cvetanovic leading everyone with seven shots and four shots-on-goal for the Eagles.

Felipe Garcia made one save for the Falcons (3-4-4, 2-1-3 KCAC), while Oliver Scott stopped one shot for the KCAC-leading Eagles (7-1-3, 6-0-1).

Another challenge awaits Friends at second-place Sterling College Saturday evening (Oct. 7) at 5 pm in Sterling, Kan.
