WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons defeated the Avila University Eagles 2-0 behind a career-high tying two goals from Alvaro Quezada in action at the Stryker Indoor Field thanks to heavy downpours in Wichita today (Oct. 25).
The victory temporarily puts the Falcons into the fourth spot in the KCAC with a 6-2-4 mark in the league.
The Falcons outshot the Eagles 10-2 through a scoreless first half, but didn't break through until Quezada scored his first goal of the day from Jose Lapentty less than two minutes into the second half.
Then a short time later, the Wichita native scored again off a feed from Sora Shibata at the 50:49 mark.
"Slow first half, but a very determined second half," said Friends men's soccer head coach Bryan Perez. "Junior (Quezada) was fantastic today."
The Falcons wound up outshooting the Eagles 22-6 overall, with a sizable 9-2 edge on-goal.
Shibata led the Falcons (7-5-5, 6-2-4 KCAC) with seven shots, with Caique Pereira recording three shots-on-goal of his five overall shot attempts.
