WICHITA, Kan. – Keily Larosee scored the only goal of the night and Nia Baker corralled a career-high 10 saves and that was enough to keep the Friends University Falcons unbeaten in the KCAC with a 1-0 victory over the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes on Senior Night at Adair-Austin Stadium.
The Falcons are now 8-0-3 in the conference, with a 9-3-4 overall mark.
Larosee's goal came at the 15:03 mark on a successful penalty kick following a foul on a corner kick.
Baker made that lead stand throughout the night with a career-high 10 saves, including a leaping stop of a shot attempt with 7:42 left to preserve the victory.
A local native of Wichita, Baker's performance helped the Falcons overcome deficits of 21-8 in shot attempts and 10-2 on-goal.
"Nia stepped up big time tonight," said Friends women's soccer head coach Brent Hobson. "She's been doing very well in those big moments. Having 10 saves in a 1-0 game is a player of the game performance."
Nakagami led the Falcons with four shots and Larosee had three. Precious Nwosu led the Coyotes (8-7-1, 6-5 KCAC) with a match-high eight shots and Allison Blumenthal made one save for KWU.
The Falcons will next host Avila University in their regular season home finale Wednesday night (Oct. 25) at 8:30 pm.
"Senior Night is always an emotional night as we celebrate and thank our seniors. Most of them are four year players that have given a lot to the program. We appreciate them and hope to keep this season going into the post season."
