Men’s Soccer Falcons salvage 2-2 tie with Kansas Wesleyan

WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons scored late to come away with a 2-2 draw on Senior Night vs. the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes tonight (Oct 21) at Adair-Austin Stadium.

The Falcons are currently fifth in the KCAC, just behind Sterling for fourth with a 5-2-4 conference mark.

The tying goal came from Jose Lapentty, who angled in a perfect free kick at the 84:43 mark to allow the Falcons to pull out the draw.

"Good to see the boys fight until the end," said Friends men's soccer head coach Bryan Perez. "Now our focus is to rest and find rhythm the last week of the season."

The Falcons were forced to come from behind throughout the night, as a goal in the eighth minute by Kamille Kum gave KWU an early lead

Sora Shibata then put in his team-leading 12th goal of the season from Caique Pereira in the 16th minute to pull the Falcons even.

But the Coyotes managed to jump on top again on a goal by Noel Zimbeva with less than four minutes remaining in the first half.

Friends outshot KWU 15-10 overall and 9-6 on-goal, led by three shots-on-goal from Shibata.

Felipe Garcia stopped four shots in the net for the Falcons (6-5-5, 5-2-4 KCAC), while Santiago Pagnutti made seven saves for KWU (10-4-2, 7-2-2 KCAC).

The Falcons will remain at home and host Avila University in their regular season home finale Wednesday night (Oct 25) at 6 pm.
