Ottawa, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons and Ottawa University Braves played to a 0-0 tie in a hard-fought defensive matchup tonight (Oct. 18) in Ottawa, Kan.
The draw leaves the Falcons still in second place at 7-0-3 in the KCAC, just behind frontrunner Oklahoma Wesleyan University (9-0-2).
The Falcons outshot the Braves 5-3 through the first half, but Ottawa had more opportunities in the second with a 10-5 edge in shot attempts. Ottawa also held a 6-2 advantage in overall shots-on-goal.
Hanon Nakagami had a match-high five shots for the Falcons, while the Braves got four shots each from Erin Wetterstrom and Rebecca Lilley.
Nia Baker got the start at goalkeeper for the Falcons (8-3-4, 7-0-3 KCAC) and preserved the shutout with six saves. Olivia Ekwall stopped both shots-on-goal she faced for Ottawa (4-5-6, 4-1-4 KCAC).
The Falcons will next host Kansas Wesleyan University Saturday evening (Oct. 21) for Senior Night. Kickoff will be at 5:00 pm at Adair-Austin Stadium.
