Alex Lee

Alex Lee is in his 10th season as the head men's tennis coach at Friends University with over 30 years of experience in teaching and competitive play. He was recently inducted into the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Missouri Valley Hall of Fame for the Class of 2023. Prior to that, Lee made history by being selected as the first black president of the USTA Missouri Valley Board of Directors.

Last season, Lee coached Silva Avakian to the first undefeated KCAC singles season in program history. Avakian was named an NAIA All-American along with earning both KCAC Player and Newcomer of the Year honors. 

Lee is a PTR Certified Professional and a USPTA Certified Elite Professional.  He has served on USTA National Committees for over 16 years and has served on the USTA Missouri Valley Executive Board of Directors for 19 years.

Lee is also the Executive Director of the McAdams NJTL Tennis Foundation, a non-profit tennis education organization aimed at combining tennis and education for youth of all backgrounds. The organization has received several recognitions from USTA Kansas and the USTA MV Section for its work with youth.

Lee received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff where he played tennis for three years. He has a Master's Certificate in Project Management from the Wichita State University Center for Management Development.
