Dustin Galyon

Dustin Galyon is in his fourth season as the Friends University Director of Golf and Men's Golf head coach.

It didn't take long for Galyon's impact to be felt, with the Falcons capturing the last two KCAC championships. The Falcons' conference titles have also resulted in consecutive NAIA National Championship event appearances for the men's golf program.

Last season's conference title saw all five Falcons finishing in the Top 10 in a field of 60 athletes. The Falcons left no room for doubt, posting a four-round total of 1159 (287-296-295-281), 24 strokes ahead of their closest competition (Kansas Wesleyan University). Caleb Knight won the individual title, marking the third straight season Galyon has coached the top individual performer in the conference after Gerardo Alemany and Trent Sutherland captured the individual title the past two seasons.

In 2023, Galyon guided the Falcons to the conference championship in just the program's second year back on campus. Friends dominated the field to win by 19 strokes with an incredible -21 (279-281-288-283) final score.

The past two seasons has also saw Gaylon coach two NAIA All-America performers (Trinton Nobles, 2024), (Alemany, 2023).

Off the golf course, Galyon co-founded the Impactful Coaching Project with Friends University VP of Athletics & Strategic Expansion Dr. Rob Ramseyer. The Impactful Coaching Project was launched last winter and focuses on training coaches to develop the whole person. Weekly posts are also available at www.impactfulcoachingproject.substack.com.

Galyon arrived at Friends from Hesston College, where he served as Head Men's Golf coach, Assistant Athletic Director and Head Men's Basketball coach.

Having taken over the men's golf program in December of 2019, Galyon had been active, signing 10 golfers to a national letter of intent.

On the hardwood, Galyon won 182 career games and was named the 2015 NJCAA District 5 Coach of the Year after guiding Hesston to a Region 6 championship and a NJCAA Div. II national tournament berth.

Galyon coached multiple All-Region and Academic All-America players while coaching the team to a pair of Top 10 national rankings in 2015 and 2016.

In his administrative role as Assistant Athletic Director, Galyon played a big role in assisting the coaching staff's recruiting efforts and roster construction while also implementing overall recruiting strategies for the department and assisting in fundraising efforts.

"I'm incredibly excited to join Friends University!!" Galyon said "I believe in the vision of the university and athletic department and I'm humbled to join a great staff with great leadership. I believe we can build a strong golf program with quality student-athletes!"

He is also the owner of Galyon LLC: Keynotes and Seminars, where he speaks and leads training to thousands on a yearly basis regarding topics such as discipleship leadership, motivation, college decisions and athletic leadership.

Through this organization, Galyon fulfilled roles such as the 2019 Kansas FCA State Fall Speaker and the 2019 Kansas State BPA Collegiate keynote presenter.

At Hesston, Galyon also served for six years as the Associate Director of Admissions and two years as an Admissions Counselor for the school.

Galyon earned an Associate of Arts degree in 2004 from Hesston College before completing his Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Va. in 2006.
