Returning to his alma mater, James Tabor enters his first season as an assistant coach for the Friends University Football program.
Tabor comes to Friends following a two-year coaching stint at Wichita East High School.
In 2016, Tabor was the Offensive Line coach and JV Offensive Coordinator before transitioning into the role of Offensive Coordinator for the varsity team and Head Strength and Conditioning coach while also serving as the JV Head Coach.
He played professional football with the Salina Liberty of the Champions Indoor League in 2017 and moved up to the Arena Football League and competed for the Cleveland Gladiators. Tabor then re-signed with the Liberty for the 2018 campaign and helped the team capture the CIF North Division championship.
Tabor competed collegiately for two years at West Liberty University and started at right guard in the 2012 season. He then transferred to Friends in 2014 and was named the starting right tackle in 2014.
He was selected as a 2015 NAIA preseason first-team All-America selection and was also a first-team all-KCAC performer.
Following his collegiate career, Tabor worked out for seven NFL teams and also participated in a CFL workout with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Tabor graduated from Friends with a degree in Health and Physical Education in 2016.
