WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University VP of Athletics & Strategic Expansion Dr. Rob Ramseyer has announced the resignation of men's golf head coach Dustin Galyon, effective immediately.

"What Dustin built here is remarkable," said Dr. Ramseyer. "He won, and he did it as one of the clearest examples of the holistic philosophy we're trying to live out in our athletic department. We'll miss him. I'm also genuinely excited for what's ahead for him with more time with Marissa and the kids, and the time to go deeper into the work he's building with the Impactful Coaching Project."

Having been tasked with restarting the Friends men's golf program in 2021, Galyon not only helped the program get off the ground but thrived in the role, winning the past four KCAC Championships that resulted in four consecutive appearances in the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship.

A four-time KCAC Coach of the Year, Galyon has coached the conference individual champion all five seasons at the helm (Trenton Sutherland, Gerado Alemany, Caleb Knight, Tomas Vazquez, Trinton Nobles). Nobles has also been selected as the KCAC Men's Golf Player of the Year for the past three seasons.

An ideal missional fit, Galyon partnered with Ramseyer in launching the Impactful Coaching Project that focuses on training coaches to develop the whole person.

Under Galyon, the Falcons wrapped up the 2025-26 season with a second-place finish at the NAIA National Championship in Silvis, Ill., the best national finish on record in Friends history.

"Friends University Men's Golf has been an absolute blessing," said Galyon. "I'm filled with gratitude and joy as I reflect on these past five years. I'm deeply thankful to Dr. Ramseyer for hiring me, believing in me, and trusting the vision for this program. He has been an incredible leader and a true friend. I'm also grateful for Dr. Carey and for her bold leadership and encouragement to use golf as a vehicle to impact young people for eternity. I want to thank our entire athletic staff, Coach Joe Belden and his staff. Each person helped shape what this program has become. I'm also thankful for the parents, grandparents, and supporters who poured into our team with their time, encouragement, and generosity, as well as Barry Moehler, Rose Hill Friends Church, and Craig DeLongy for the many ways they invested in our student-athletes. Coach Chris Hamman, who has impacted our team and myself in ways I can't put into words. He has been the best coach on our staff! Finally, every player who has been part of this journey. The players have made this all happen!!

Most of all, I'm grateful for my wife and kids, whose love and support made this journey possible. What we built here was about far more than golf, and I'll always be thankful for the opportunity to invest in the lives of these young men and to be part of Friends University."

A new men's golf head coach is expected to be announced tomorrow
