Salina, Kan. - Friends University baseball closed out its 2026 season on Friday (May 1) at Dean Evans Stadium, falling to Kansas Wesleyan 19-3 in seven innings. The Falcons finished the year with a 30-22 overall record and 23-13 in conference play.
The Coyotes broke the game open with a five-run second inning and never looked back, sending 19 batters across the plate on 19 hits against a Friends pitching staff that struggled to find its footing throughout the afternoon.
Bernie Socarras provided one of the few offensive highlights for Friends, slugging a solo home run in the sixth inning to account for one of the team's three runs on the day. Elijah Morales reached base twice and crossed the plate twice, while Hudson Sharp went 2-for-3 with a double.
Colton Flores drove in two runs on a pair of sacrifice plays, showing the kind of situational awareness that defined Friends' approach even in a difficult final outing.
Colby Turner provided a bright finish in relief, spinning two scoreless innings and striking out three to close out the season on a positive note.
Kansas Wesleyan's Zac Goldenberg was the catalyst for the Coyotes' offensive explosion, going 3-for-5 with a home run, triple, two doubles, and four RBI. Fernando Ruvalcaba added a grand slam among his four RBI, and Joe Finder contributed a three-run blast as well.
With the loss, the Falcons close the book on the 2026 season. Friends finishes 30-22 which is a testament to the program's competitiveness throughout what was a challenging but rewarding year.
