Wichita, Kan. - The Friends University Falcons delivered a dominant all-around performance on Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 7), shutting out Southwestern College 12-0.
Friends wasted no time setting the tone, plating a run in the opening inning before erupting for six runs in the second to seize complete control of the contest. The Falcons capitalized on timely hitting and Southwestern miscues, turning a narrow 1-0 lead into a commanding 7-0 advantage early.Â
The offensive momentum continued into the middle innings, as Friends added two more runs in the third and three in the fifth to extend the lead to 12-0. The Falcons consistently applied pressure on the bases and delivered key situational at-bats, including multiple sacrifice flies and extra-base hits.Â
Leading the charge offensively was Bernie Socarras, who delivered multiple RBI knocks, including a triple, while Miles Hartman contributed a 2-RBI double as part of the big second inning. Elijah Morales also drove in runs in key spots, helping fuel the balanced attack.Â
On the mound, Friends was equally impressive. Seth Wright would get the start for the Falcons and he would have his best outing of the year, going 6 shutout innings and striking out 10 Southwestern batters. Seve Sissac came in to close the game to complete the mercy rule. Sissac would complete the game without giving up a run.Â
The Falcons' pitching staff controlled the tempo throughout, recording quick innings and avoiding any scoring threats.Â
With the win, Friends continues to stay hot as they bring their win streak up to six. The Falcons would take the season sweep over Southwestern with this win. Friends (22-18) KCAC (16-10) will stay here in Wichita with a series against Bethany this weekend. The first game is on Friday (Apr. 10) at 4:00 PM at West Side Athletic Field.
