Salina, Kan. - The Friends University Falcons stayed alive in the postseason with an 8-3 victory over York University on Wednesday (Apr. 30) in the KCAC Baseball Tournament at Dean Evans Stadium.

Facing elimination, the Falcons delivered a complete performance behind timely hitting and a dominant outing on the mound.

Friends jumped out early, scoring two runs in the first inning on a two-RBI single from Colton Flores. The Falcons added two more in the second, highlighted by a two-run single from Bernie Socarras, to build a 4-0 lead. 

York got on the board in the second, but Friends responded with a key three-run sixth inning. Camden Miller drove in a run with a single before Socarras delivered again with a two-RBI double to extend the lead to 7-1. 

The Panthers closed the gap to 7-3 in the seventh, capitalizing on defensive miscues, but the Falcons added an insurance run in the eighth on an RBI single from Miller to put the game out of reach. 

Offensively, Friends totaled 15 hits in the contest. Miller led the way with four hits and two RBIs, while Socarras added three hits and a game-high four RBIs. Xavier Champ also recorded a three-hit performance as the Falcons' lineup produced up and down the order. 

On the mound, Brett Black was dominant, tossing a complete game while allowing just five hits and three runs with none earned, while striking out five. 

With the win, Friends advances in the elimination bracket of the KCAC Tournament, continuing its postseason push. The Falcons will go against Kansas Wesleyan in their elimination game tomorrow (May 1) in which the first pitch is at noon.
