Lindsborg, Kan. -- The Friends University Women's Tennis Falcons slipped by the Bethany College Swedes 6-1, while the Swedes bested the Men's Tennis Falcons 6-1 yesterday (Mar. 30) in Lindsborg, Kan. 

In what proved pivotal, the Falcon Women secured the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Aneth Diaz and Silva Avakian defeated Ana Sofia Castillo Paz and Helen Harbit 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Carlotta Klee and Emma Sargeant followed with a 6-3 win over Makenna Russom and Kyla Metro at the No. 2 spot. 

In singles, the Falcons extended their lead starting with Avakian's commanding 6-2, 6-2 victory over Castillo Paz at No. 1 singles. Diaz added another point at No. 2 singles, securing a 6-0, 6-3 win against Metro. Bethany won at No. 3 singles where Russom defeated Klee in three sets, 0-6, 6-4, 6-1. But Sargeant clinched the match for the Falcons at No. 4 singles with a 7-6(5), 6-4 triumph over Harbit.

In the men's match, the Falcons dropped the doubles point after only securing a win at No. 1 doubles, where Gabriel Gomes and Cristobal Fuentes outlasted Gustavo Cardoso and Sebastian Stipanov, 7-6(7), 7-6(3). 

In singles play, Friends managed to secure a point at No. 1 singles as Fuentes rallied for a 4-6, 6-0, 6-0 victory over Sebastian Stipanov. However, Bethany closed it out with wins across the remaining singles matches. 

The Men's and Women's Tennis Falcons will next host Evangel University tomorrow (Apr. 1) at 3 pm.
