Baseball takes another game against Southwestern; winning 8-3

Box Score Winfield, Kan. - Friends baseball took on a familiar opponent that they beat a week ago, the Southwestern College Moundbuilders. This affair was on the road for the Falcons and they would end up grabbing a 8-3 victory Tuesday afternoon (Mar. 17).

The Moundbuilders would strike first due to a wild pitch giving them a one run lead in the 1st. Friends would answer back in the top of the 2nd with a Colton Flores solo home run. This would be the 1st of Flores season, knotting the score at one a piece.

Friends would put two more runs on the board with another long ball, this one from Elijah Morales. This two run shot would score Bernie Socarras giving Friends a 3-1 lead. Morales is now tied with Miles Hartman for most home runs on the team with four.

The Moundbuilders would hit a solo home run in the bottom half to cut the deficit to one, Friends still up 3-2.

Vincent Vigil and Seve Sissac would have great relief appearances both not allowing earned runs and ultimately propelling the Falcons to win this one. Vigil would pitch 1 inning and Sissac finished off the final two innings for Friends.

The 9th inning for Friends was the pivotal inning which earned them this victory. Friends would jab Southwestern with five RBI singles in the five run 9th inning. Hudson Sharp started this rally with an RBI single to give Friends a 4-2 lead. Holden Sabor would join him with an RBI single for himself. Xavier Champ with his speed would have an RBI infield single.

The middle infield of Miles Hartman and Camden Miller would continue the rally with their RBI singles. Friends would win this bout 8-3 getting 13 hits and only having one defensive error.

Next up for the Falcons (14-14) is a big three game series against conference opponent Kansas Wesleyan. The series will be at Salina with the first game on Friday (Mar. 20) at 4:00.
