Box Score Bartlesville, Okla. - Friends baseball opened up a series on the road against OKWU who is receiving votes in the latest NAIA top 25 poll. The Falcons looked to keep their momentum going as they have won 4 of their last 5 games. Friends would go down in this one losing 5-2 to the Eagles.
Raleigh Clark would get his usual opening game start, the southpaw has 7 games started this year and has thrown for 28.2 innings. Clark threw 107 pitches in 5.2 innings pitched, including striking out two and giving up two earned runs.Â
Friends got out in front early in the 1st with
Bernie Socarras hitting an RBI double to score
Miles Hartman. OKWU would answer with a run in their bottom half with an RBI double from JT Maloney tying the game.
The Falcons offense would regain their one run lead in the 2nd with a
Noah Gagol RBI single, scoring
Colton Flores. Clark would be efficient in the next two innings not allowing a run. The Eagles would battle back in the 5th inning due to a fielder's choice that would tie the game at two a piece.
The Falcons had the early lead in this one, but could not keep the bats going against a complete game performance from Alex Garcia. Garcia only struck out one Falcon batter, however the OKWU defense kept the baseball in front of them to avoid any Falcon damage in the later innings.
A single and an error highlighted the Eagles 3-run 7th inning to put them up 5-2. The Falcons would fall 5-2 and look ahead for the doubleheader tomorrow (Mar. 14). Friends' record goes to (12-13) and the doubleheader will begin at noon in Bartlesville.
