Wichita, Kan. - Falcons baseball ended their homestretch with conference play against Southwestern College. A pivotal game that could bring their overall record to .500. Friends ended up taking this one home winning 8-6 over the Moundbuilders.

Southwestern grabbed runs in the 1st inning with a couple of sacrifice flies, making the score 2-0 Moundbuilders. When Friends came up to hit in the bottom half, Bernie Socarras would drive in a run with an RBI single to center cutting the Southwestern lead down to one. Socarras has been a reliable player for Friends this season, playing in all 24 games and being tied for 2nd on the team with RBI's (17).

In the 2nd the Moundbuilders would grab their 1st of three solo home runs of this game. Braden Roberts would hit one out to make it 3-1 Southwestern. The Falcons offense fought back in the bottom with a Noah Gagol RBI double to score Holden Sabor, Falcons down one.

The Moundbuilders would deliver in the 4th with a leadoff solo home run from Cole Van Stone, bringing their lead back up to two. However, a five run 4th inning for the Falcons would bring them ahead 7-4. The Falcons bats would take advantage with the bases loaded twice. Miles Hartman and Elijah Morales would both hit 2RBI singles. Socarras would grab his 2nd RBI from a sac fly.Â

Corey Crumrine would come in for relief for the Falcons and pitched three beautiful innings and gave himself the win for this game. In Crumrine's 7th appearance, he would not allow an earned run while striking out four facing 14 total batters.Â

A double and a third solo home run from Southwestern brought them right back into the game in the 8th inning, bringing them within one run. The Falcons would grab an insurance run in the bottom half, with Bernie Socarras grabbing his 3rd RBI of the day with a single to right. The Falcons would go into the 9th up 8-6.

Seve Sissac would come in for the save for Friends. This would be Sissac's 1st save attempt of the season and he did not disappoint. He would mow the Moundbuilders lineup down in order while grabbing two strikeouts, picking up his first save of the season.Â

Friends would win this one 8-6 and bring their overall record back to .500 (12-12) KCAC (7-4). The Falcons will travel to Bartlesville for a series against the OKWU Eagles. Game one will be at 3:00 on Friday (Mar. 13) and a doubleheader will follow on Saturday at noon (Mar. 14).
