WICHITA, Kan. – Four Friends University Falcon seniors and one freshman have received recognition on the All-KCAC Men's Basketball teams, the conference office announced today (Feb. 26).
Leading the way was senior guard Randy Woolf, Jr with a unanimous first-team nod. Senior guard Cahlese Lee earned second-team honors, while senior guard Collin Maclin collected a third-team selection and senior forward Ringo Deng was an honorable-mention choice. Additionally, Deng was selected to the All-KCAC Defensive team and freshman guard Eli Benning was named an All-KCAC Freshman team selection.
Woolf, Jr. is the epitome of an efficient scorer, averaging 14.3 points per game and ranking first in the KCAC in three-point percentage (48.1) and second in free-throw percentage (87.8). He is also tops on the Falcons and tied for third in the KCAC in assists (4.2 apg).
One of the top long-distance shooters in the league, Lee is currently second in the KCAC in threes made per game (79) while shooting a solid 36.9 percent on a league-leading 214 three-point attempts. The Falcons' leading scorer, Lee is averaging 16.1 ppg along with 4.4 rebounds per game.
Maclin finished his senior campaign on fire, averaging 27.3 ppg over his final three full games that included a career-best 35-point outburst in a 96-84 victory at Ottawa University (Feb. 7). He finished the season averaging 14.9 ppg and shot a team-high 54.2 percent from the field while tying for the team-lead in rebounds (5.3 rpg).
Tying Maclin in rebounds was Deng, who also averaged 5.3 boards a game while scoring 9.8 ppg along with 3.5 assists. Fueling Deng's all-defense honor was his consistent interior defense and his ability to also guard on the perimeter, evidenced by his 1.5 steals per game.
Often tasked with guarding the opposing team's best player, Benning never flinched as a true freshman and led the Falcons and ranked third in the KCAC with 2.2 steals per game.
"I'm happy for the well-deserved all conference recognition for this group of guys," said Friends men's basketball head coach Phil McClintock. "I always say individual awards are all about the team and this year is no different. We are happy for the guys and are looking forward to competing in the post season together."
The No. 16-ranked Falcons are the second seed in the upcoming KCAC postseason tournament and will host the seventh-seeded University of Saint Mary Spires tonight at 6 pm inside the Garvey Center. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
