Deng selected as KCAC Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week

WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University senior forward Ringo Deng has been named the KCAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced today (Jan. 5).  All KCAC Player of the Week awards are sponsored by Athletic Solutions

Deng averaged a double-double of 17.5 ppg and 10.0 rebounds along with 5.0 assists to lead the No. 14-ranked Falcons to a pair of victories this past week.

A Grand Prairie, Texas native, Deng scored 13 and had nine rebounds and six assists at Hastings before exploding for a stat line of 22 points, 11 boards and four assists vs. Ottawa on Saturday (Jan. 3).

Deng is averaging 11.9 ppg this season and is tops on the team in rebounding (6.6 rpg) while ranking second in assists (3.9 apg).

"Ring is a special player who has the ability to be a difference maker on both ends," said Friends men's basketball head coach Phil McClintock. "We are a better team when he is aggressive and he was that on the offensive end this week. Ring is a great kid and is very deserving of this award."

Deng and the Falcons have won eight straight games and are tied for first in the KCAC with a 7-1 conference mark along with a 12-2 overall record. They'll return to action Wednesday night (Jan. 7) at 8 pm on the road at Sterling College.
