KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Friends University junior Tiyna Ridge has been selected as the NAIA Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, the national office released today (Jan. 14).
Also the top KCAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete this week, Ridge ran another NAIA A Standard time of 7.48 in the preliminaries of the Women's 60 Meter run Saturday (Jan. 10) at the Friends University First Chance Qualifier at Wichita State University. Ridge had already broke the school and KCAC record in the event back in December with a PR of 7.45.
The Edmond, Okla. native now holds two of the top 100 all-time marks in the 60 meter run in NAIA history.
"Tiyna has really put in the work in the off-season to go into her junior year as a true national contender," said Friends track & field head coach Henry Brun. "We have been impressed with her level of discipline and commitment to all aspects of her training. The results have shown early on, with her posting multiple all-time performances in the 60m. We are excited to see how the rest of this indoor season plays out."
Ridge and the Falcon indoor track & field programs will next be in action at the Washburn Rust Buster on Friday (Jan. 16) in Topeka, Kan.
