Men’s and Women’s Wrestling Dominate First KCAC Conference Dual Meets of the Season

York, Neb. - Both Friends wrestling programs took a trip up to York, Neb. for a KCAC conference double header Friday night. The women led off and controlled the dual the whole way through. Cruising to a 51-6 victory over the Panthers, winning their first conference match up and bringing their dual meet record to 2-0.

 

In the 110 lb weight class, Anissa Robinson started the Falcons off strong, getting a 31 second technical fall over Grace Conner. The Falcons would be down 6-5 after two matches.

 

This got the ball rolling for the Falcons as they would win via fall or tech fall in their next seven matches. The premier wrestlers on Friends would handle their business in quick fashion.

 

No. 18 ranked Kaylynn Martin would follow up Robinson with a tech fall of her own in the time of 1:11. 

 

No. 18 ranked Alexis Means in the 145 lb weight class, would continue to get big bonus points earning a tech fall over Madison Davis at the time of 1:37.

The men followed up the women shortly after and continued what they had started. They would get bonus points in every one of their matches against York. The Falcons would cruise to a 52-6 win over the Panthers collecting their first KCAC conference win and bringing their dual meet record to 2-4. 

 

No. 12 Braydon Pacheco would lead off and give Friends a 6-0 lead with a fall over Travis Reidy in just 1:43. 

 

After three forfeits between the Falcons and the Panthers, Mason Moore at 157 lbs would dominate his way to an 18-0 tech fall in the first period. 

 

At the 174 lb bout, Benedict Holthaus would continue grabbing bonus points, earning a tech fall winning 22-4 over Caleb Davis.

 

From start to finish the Falcons won every single match they wrestled in. The only match they gave up was the forfeit at 133 lbs.

Next up for both programs is another double header against Ottawa, another KCAC conference opponent. The Falcons will be back in Wichita at the Garvey Center for this match up! Wrestling will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 5:00 and 6:00 PM.
