WICHITA, Kan. – The anticipated Nov. 1 showdown between the Friends University Falcons and Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes will have an appropriate venue at Equity Bank Park (formerly Riverfront Stadium) in Wichita. It'll be a showdown pitting the Falcons as the reigning Kessinger division champions and the Coyotes as the defending Bissell division champs. For the 2025 season, both the Falcons and Coyotes will compete in the KCAC Bissell division.
"We're excited to return to Equity Bank Park this year," said Dr. Rob Ramseyer, Friends University VP of Athletics & Strategic Expansion. "Our student-athletes, coaches, and campus community had a great experience the last time we played there, and I'm glad we have the opportunity to provide that experience again."
Equity Bank Park is the home of the Minnesota Twins Double-A affiliate Wichita Wind Surge and has a decorated recent history of hosting football games, with the 2021 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference championship tilt between Garden City and Hutchinson serving as the venue's first-ever football event.
"Hosting events and football games year-round at Equity Bank Park is our goal," said Wind Surge General Manager Matt Hamilton. "We hosted a Friends football game in 2023 and are very excited about college football returning to our first-class venue."
The game Hamilton referred to was the Falcons' 66-17 victory over McPherson College on Nov. 4 of the 2023 season.
If last year's game between the Falcons and Coyotes is any indication of what could transpire this season, fans at Equity Bank Park will be in for quite a treat. Friends nipped KWU 28-26 on a game-winning 40-yard field goal as time expired for its first win over the Coyotes since the 2014 season.
That big win continued to launch the Falcons to their first KCAC championship since 2008 and the program's first-ever NAIA playoff victory.
General admission tickets will be $15, with club level seating in The Vault available at a price TBD.
