Box Score 2 Hooks, Texas – The Friends University Falcons came away with a doubleheader split to wrap up a four-game series at the Texas A&M University-Texarkana Eagles today (Feb. 1) at Hooks HS in Hooks, Texas.
Tyler Godfrey had arguably the biggest swing of the weekend for the Falcons, smacking a go-ahead solo home run to lead off the seventh inning to snap a 1-1 tie in the opening tilt.
That was enough for Francisco Moscoso, who got a double play to end the game and put a bow on a stellar complete game pitching performance that featured nine strikeouts with no walks.
The Falcons trailed 1-0 until Nijai Armbrister singled home Miles Hartman in the fourth.
The nightcap saw the Falcons in a big hole, with a three-run homer by Rian Cellers helping the Eagles take a 6-0 lead by the fifth.
But the Falcons would make things interesting in the seventh, as Carlos Rodriguez hit a grand slam to cut the deficit to 6-4. Friends wasn't done as Zeke Henson singled in Hartman to make it a one-run game. The Eagles though got a groundout to first with the tying run at third to escape with the win.
Henson and Isaias Urriola each had two hits in the second game for the Falcons (3-3).
Coming up next is the Falcons' 2025 home opener vs. Northwestern College (Iowa) Friday at 2 pm at West Side Athletic Field. That will be the opening game of a three-game weekend series in Wichita.
