First Fan's Point of View: Bryan Carey tells his story as one of Falcon Athletics' biggest supporters

For the past 10 years, I've been blessed to have the opportunity to support Friends University Athletics as a donor.

My wife, Dr. Amy Bragg Carey, is the president of the university, so Friends is very much a family affair for us.

We love working together to promote the school and its mission, and I help out in any way that I can.

As a big sports fan, attending games and supporting the athletic department is something I'm particularly passionate about.

I've always believed in the power of sports to teach life lessons and help student-athletes grow into leaders and people of character.

And I'm so proud of the athletic department at Friends for embracing that philosophy.

They're committed to developing the whole person, not just focusing on winning games but also on building character, leadership skills, and becoming model citizens in this crazy world we live in.

That's why I'm so supportive of what they're doing, and I'm honored to be a part of it.

So Many Memories

Over the past decade, I've had the pleasure of getting to know many individual athletes who have left a lasting impression on me.

One of the things I enjoy most is watching these young athletes come in as freshmen and develop into not only quality athletes but also quality individuals over the course of their four years at Friends.

It's incredibly rewarding to see them thrive and grow both on and off the field.

Of course, there are also those unforgettable moments during games that stick with you.

I'll never forget when our football team beat Southwestern in the final minute by blocking a field goal and running it back for a touchdown to win the game.

Those are the kinds of memories that make being a part of Friends University Athletics so special.

I have to give a shoutout to some of the incredible coaches I've had the pleasure of getting to know as well.

Coach Dale Faber, the former basketball coach, always kept me entertained with his antics.

And our athletic director, Rob Ramseyer, has truly transformed the athletic department.

His dedication and interaction with the team and coaches are nothing short of remarkable.

I may not know all the coaches super well, but I always enjoy interacting with them and showing my appreciation for the incredible work they do.

So Much Growth

Athletics is one of the biggest components of Friends University and a major driver for tuition.

Having a strong athletic program is crucial for attracting new athletes and, in turn, new students.

But it's not just about the numbers. It's about transforming these athletes through the mission of the school.

Getting to know these athletes, including the international ones, has been a treasure for my wife and me.

We both believe in the power of athletics to shape and mold young individuals, and we're so grateful to be a part of that journey.

Looking ahead, I'm excited about the direction the athletic department is heading.

They're doing an incredible job of developing students' bodies, minds, and spirits.

The impact they're making is truly inspiring, and I have no doubt they will continue to achieve great things.

It's a great honor and privilege for me to attend so many athletic events during the school year.

I'll continue to support Friends University Athletics in any way I can, and I look forward to seeing these young athletes continue to grow and succeed, both on and off the field.
