York, Neb. – The (RV) Friends University Falcons led wire-to-wire in a convincing 82-55 victory at the York University Panthers today (Nov. 22) to move to 6-1 on the season.
The Falcons jumped out of the gate quick and built a double-digit lead of 14-4 by the 4:11 mark of the first quarter.
Abigail Barr then scored six straight points to help the Falcons increase the lead to 26-8 at the end of the first period.
Friends scored the first five points of the second quarter and doubled up the Panthers at halftime with a 50-25 lead at the break.
The Falcons (6-1, 2-1 KCAC) continued to stretch it out in the second half and built their largest lead of the game when Barr scored to make it 72-37 at the 1:57 mark of the third quarter.
Barr led the Falcons with a season-high tying 19 points, with Lauryn McIver delivering 12 points, a team-high seven rebounds and four assists. Katie Weiss and Anna Sant'Anna also scored 12 points, while Rayland Garner led the Falcons with five assists and five steals.
Alesia Rand paced the Panthers (4-5, 0-3 KCAC) with 12 points and nine boards.
Friends outrebounded York 41-34 and limited the Panthers to shooting clips of 32.8 percent (19-of-58) overall and 13.3 percent (2-of-15) from three-point distance.
The Falcons will next host the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) Drovers Tuesday evening (Nov. 25) at 6 pm prior to the Thanksgiving Break.
