WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons finished second in the KCAC and were duly recognized in the KCAC postseason award distribution, announced today (Nov. 11) by the conference office. Eight Falcons received All-KCAC recognition, while Samantha Jones was named the KCAC Newcomer of the Year and Solenn Levesque was the league's Freshman of the Year.
Kieley Aranda, Levesque and Paige Putter were first-team selections, with Anahi Ibarra-Arevalo, Jones and Morgan Wilkinson named to the second team. Honorable mentions for the Falcons were Pilar Flores and Elisa Murrietta.
Aranda is tops on the Falcons and tied for third in the KCAC with 12 goals and Levesque has scored four goals and is tied for third in the league with five assists from the midfield. Putter is second on the team with seven goals and has dished out three helpers on the season.
Ibarra-Arevalo leads Friends and ranks second in the KCAC with nine assists and has added six goals. Ibarra-Arevalo's nine assists are tied for the school's modern-era single-season record. Jones has scored one goal with two assists along with stellar defense, while Wilkinson ranks second in the KCAC in goals-against-average (0.76) and is fifth in save percentage (.817).
Flores and Murrietta have each provided the Falcons with stout production along the midfield, with Murrietta scoring three goals and recording four assists and Flores adding a pair of goals with one helper.
Under head coach Brent Hobson, the Falcons (14-3-3) are flying high with nine straight victories ahead of tomorrow's (Nov. 12) KCAC tournament championship match vs. top-seeded and No. 5-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Tomorrow's match will kick off at 1 pm at Scheels Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita.
