BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — The Friends University Falcons fell to the No. 5-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles in a four-set match on Wednesday (Oct. 8) by scores of 25-12, 25-11, 22-25 and 25-10 in Bartlesville, Okla. OKWU's attack proved decisive, recording 58 kills and 13 service aces.
OKWU capitalized on a strong start to take the first set 25-12 against the Falcons. The Eagles' offense was driven by Sydney Collins, who provided six assists, including pivotal contributions to a 7-2 stretch early in the set.
The Falcons then fell in the second set 25-11 after a series of service aces and attack errors. OKWU capitalized on Friends' miscues, with Jordan Isbell leading a decisive stretch with three service aces that contributed to a 7-0 run, extending their lead to 16-9.
Friends overcame a mid-set deficit to secure the third set 25-22 against OKWU, highlighted by a crucial 9-0 run late in the frame.
Maysen Bruschke led the charge with three kills during the closing stretch, while
Randi Reid contributed with two service aces.
OKWU exerted control in the fourth set with a decisive 25-10 win over Friends, propelled by a strong serving performance that included four service aces from Collins.
The Falcons will next be at Sterling College Saturday afternoon (Oct. 11) at 2 pm in Sterling, Kan.
