BALDWIN CITY, Kan. — The Friends University Falcons bounced back in dominant fashion, rolling past the Baker University Wildcats 107-68 on Thursday night (Oct. 30).
The Falcons were dominant from the jump shooting an impressive 62.8% from the field and converting 22-of-35 attempts in the first half. Friends were lights out from behind the arc shooting 10-18 (55.5%) from the 3pt line, pouring in 58 first-half points while holding Baker to 30.
The momentum carried into the second half as the Falcons kept their foot on the gas scoring another 50 points while shooting over 36% from the 3pt line, and an efficient 13-of-16 (81%) from the FT line.
Friends led by as many as 47 points, fueled by 17 three-pointers on 45.9% shooting from beyond the arc. They shared the ball effectively as well, finishing with 23 assists as a team. Falcons' defense forced 24 turnovers, converting them into 29 points, while also dominated the boards with a 49-32 rebounding advantage.
Cahlese Lee led the Falcons with a career-high 30 points on 11-of-15 shooting, including a career-best seven three-pointers, while also adding three steals. Randy Woolf Jr. had a strong all-around performance, finishing just shy of a triple-double with 13 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists, and four steals.
Ringo Deng added nine points, six rebounds, and two steals. The Falcons' bench was highlighted by
Eli Benning, who stuffed the stat sheet with seven assists, seven steals, and five rebounds, while
Jackson Swartz added 10 points on 3-of-4 shooting, with two blocks as Friends dominated both ends of the floor to secure their first win of the season.
The Falcons will return to action next Friday (Nov. 7) to face Dordt University (Iowa) in their opening game of the Ottawa Classic. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM in Ottawa, Kan.
