WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University junior guard Lauryn McIver has been named the KCAC Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced today (Jan. 6).
It's the first offensive award for McIver, but the Phoenix, Ariz. native did earn the league's top defensive weekly honor on Nov. 25.
McIver put together arguably the best game of her tenure at Friends on Saturday (Jan. 4), scoring a career-high 25 points to go along with seven rebounds and five assists to fuel the Falcons' 88-78 victory at Ottawa University.
Overall this season, McIver is now tops on the Falcons in both scoring (14.4 ppg) and assists (3.1 apg).
"Lauryn continues to showcase the myriads of ways she can score," said Friends women's basketball head coach Dean Jaderston. "Her ability to attack the rim or pull up makes her a hard defensive assignment. She also pulled down some key rebounds in the fourth quarter to help seal the game."
McIver and the Falcons, now 8-6 and tied for third in the KCAC with a 6-2 conference record, will next return to the Garvey Center and host Sterling College to kick off a three-game homestand Wednesday evening (Jan. 8) at 6 pm.
