WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University senior forward KJ Spiller has been selected as the KCAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career, the conference office announced today (Jan. 6).
Spiller, an All-KCAC honorable-mention performer last season, averaged 17.0 ppg and five rpg this week, highlighted by a team-high 22 points in a 110-88 victory at Ottawa University that represented the Falcons' highest conference point total in five years.
A Kansas City, Mo. native, Spiller leads the Falcons in both scoring (16.4 ppg) and rebounding (6.6 rpg) this season.
"KJ has had a great start to his senior season and has grown into a leadership role for us," said Friends men's basketball head coach Phil McClintock. "He continues to improve on both ends of the floor and has played a major role in our successes so far this year."
Spiller and the Falcons, now 10-4 overall and tied for third in the KCAC with a 6-2 mark, will look to keep rolling with an upcoming three-game homestand, starting Wednesday night (Jan. 8) at 8 pm vs. Sterling College inside the Garvey Center.
