Woolf, Jr named KCAC Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week

WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University junior guard Randy Woolf, Jr. has been selected as the KCAC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced today (Jan. 13). All KCAC Player of the Week awards are sponsored by Equity Bank.

Woolf, Jr. displayed a solid effort defensively in a pair of victories this past week, averaging 2.5 steals, one block and seven defensive rebounds per game as the Falcons improved to 8-2 in the KCAC for the program's best 10-game conference start in a decade.

A native of Waco, Texas, Woolf, Jr. saved his best for last in the Falcons' victory over No. 24-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University, recording four steals, two swats and five defensive boards.

Woolf, Jr. is averaging 1.3 steals per game and is second on the Falcons with 55 defensive rebounds on the season.

"Randy has been a major force for us on both ends of the floor this year, but has definitely been an anchor for us defensively," said Friends men's basketball head coach Phil McClintock. "He plays with a ton of energy and effort and is a leader for us. He has made huge plays defensively down the stretch in multiple wins this year and this award is well-deserved."

Woolf, Jr. and the Falcons have surged into second place in the KCAC and will next wrap up their three-game homestand Wednesday night (Jan. 15) vs. Southwestern College at 8 pm inside the Garvey Center.
