ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Friends University Falcons began action at the Eutectics Classic with a 3-0 victory over the tourney host University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy Eutectics today (Sept. 13) in St. Louis.

The Falcons won the first set 25-17 and then blitzed the Eutectics 25-11 before wrapping up the match 25-19 in the third.

Samantha Johnson delivered a season-high 10 kills and Gabriella Lujan also put in 10 kills for the Falcons. Quinn Curran recorded 29 assists and Antonia Perier led the way defensively with nine digs. Friends also got a pair of service aces from Curran and Saidy Gonzalez.

"A great win for the Falcons today, we got back on track and Lujan and Sam got the offense going early and kept momentum going for us," said Friends volleyball head coach Martin Ayin. "We played a solid game including serving runs to really put things away for us in the third set! It's nice to come out early and get a win as we prepare for our next match against Missouri Baptist, who is receiving votes.
