Great Bend, Kan. – The Friends University Baseball Falcons kept their 2024 season going with a 12-4 victory over the Tabor College Bluejays this morning (May 4) at the Great Bend Sports Complex in Great Bend, Kan.
The Falcon bats came alive, getting three hits apiece from Nijai Armbrister, Carlos Rodriguez, Zeke Henson and Sam Engberg.
It was scoreless through the first three innings, but the Falcons got going in the fourth behind an RBI double by Spencer Davidson, a two-run single by Melwin Perez and finally a run-scoring single from Armbrister for a 5-0 lead.
Miguel Ramos III hit a two-run double to help the Bluejays score three in the fifth, but the Falcons were undeterred as Buster Hardman and Rodriguez each singled in a run before Henson doubled in a pair of runs to push the Falcon lead to six runs.
The Falcons continued to stretch the lead and got another RBI single from Hardman in the seventh before Armbrister doubled in a run and scored on a single by Rodriguez in the ninth.
Francisco Moscoso gave the Falcons (30-22) what they needed on the mound, going eight innings and striking out nine with three runs allowed.
Gonzolo Armas then gave up one unearned run in closing out the ninth frame.
Ramos III went 3-of-4 for the Bluejays, who are now 35-14 on the season.
The sixth-seeded Falcons will look to stay alive with another elimination game against third-seeded Oklahoma Wesleyan University coming up at 3:30 pm today.
