Great Bend, Kan. – The sixth-seeded Friends University Falcons were tripped up 10-2 to the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles in the first game of the KCAC postseason tournament today (May 2) at the Great Bend Sports Complex in Great Bend, Kan.
The Eagles scored in each of the first three innings, culminating with a four-run third frame.
Following RBI singles by Jorge Aldrete, Ravaughn Morgan and Josh Logan during the first two innings, Nijai Armbrister got the Falcons back into it with a two-run single that plated Melwin Perez and Spencer Davidson to make it a one-run game in the top of the third.
But the Eagles' four-run bottom of the third put the Falcons in a 7-2 hole and another RBI single by Aldrete in the sixth and a run-scoring single by Victor Sanchez in the seventh put it away for OKWU.
Buster Hardman fueled the Falcons with three hits in four at-bats, while the Eagles got two hits from four different players to spark their 12-hit attack.
Daniel Jaime started for Friends and allowed five earned runs in 2.1 innings, followed by Matthew Benton with one earned run in 5.2 frames.
Evan Foor was solid for the Eagles over eight innings, limiting the Falcons to just two runs with five strikeouts to get the win.
The Falcons, now 28-22 on the season, will next play seventh-seeded Avila University in an elimination game tomorrow morning (May 3) at 9 am.
