Ottawa, Kan. -- The Ottawa University Braves came away with a 3-1 win over the Friends University Falcons today (Apr. 9) in Ottawa, Kan. This was the second game of three with Ottawa, with the two teams set for the series finale next Tuesday (Apr. 16) at 3 pm in Wichita.
Pedro Astacio hit a solo home run in the second inning for the game's first run and Ottawa added another run in the third for a 2-0 lead.
Zeke Henson then put the Falcons on the board with his team-leading 12th home run of the season in the fourth inning to cut the Ottawa lead in half.
But Tyler Farnham singled in a run with one of his four hits on the day in the bottom of the fifth to put the Braves up by two runs again.
John Walsh then pitched three scoreless innings in relief for the Braves and Cameron Sistrunk pitched a scoreless ninth frame to earn the save. Flynn Ridley started the game for Ottawa and lasted five innings with one run allowed and three strikeouts.
Austin Neeley recorded another solid starting outing for Friends, giving up three runs and striking out one during his five innings of work. Matthew Benton then finished the game with three scoreless frames and also striking out one.
Sam Engberg had two hits for the Falcons and Farnham was 4-of-4 at the top of Ottawa's lineup.
The Falcons will next play a three-game series at the University of Saint Mary, beginning with a single game Friday (Apr. 12) at 3 pm in Leavenworth, Kan. Â
