York, Neb. – The Friends University Falcons salvaged a game in the three-game series at York University in the most dominant way possible with a 20-0 victory today (Apr. 6) in York, Neb.
It's the second time this season the Falcons have scored at least 20 runs, with the first occurrence coming in a 21-3 win at Avila University in head coach Adam Neisius's 600th career victory.
Among the major catalysts in the Falcons' 20-run barrage was Zeke Henson, who drove in a career-high six runs.
The Falcons hit the Panthers with a nine spot in the second inning, capped by a grand slam by Henson.
Buster Hardman also had a two-run double in the big frame and DJ Killion scored Niquan Benjamin with a sacrifice fly.
Sam Engberg then homered for the second straight day in the third inning, a two-run blast that pushed the lead to 11 runs.
Friends continued the onslaught in the fourth, getting a two-run single by Caleb Coats and RBI singles from Benjamin and Hardman to plate five runs and take a staggering 16-0 lead.
The Falcons then put the finishing touches on the massive win behind more RBI singles from Carlos Rodriguez and Tyler Godfrey along with a two-run single by Henson that gave the Raymore, Mo. native his career-high RBI total.
Henson was 3-of-5 at the plate and Hardman was a perfect 4-of-4 with three RBIs. Coats, Rodriguez and Engberg had two hits apiece, while Coats, Killion and Engberg each crossed the plate three times.
Francisco Moscoso backed the Falcon offensive explosion with a dominant performance on the mound, tossing six shutout innings with seven strikeouts and two walks while scattering five hits.
Daniel Polo had two hits for York.
The Falcons will next be at Ottawa University for a single game Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 9) at 2 pm.
