WICHITA, Kan. – The Tabor College Bluejays won the third and fourth sets to pull out a 3-1 win over the Friends University Falcons tonight (Nov. 9) in the 2024 season finale inside the Garvey Center.
The Falcons battled back from a four-point deficit in the first set to take a one-point lead of 23-22, but the Bluejays scored the last three points to escape with a 25-23 win to jump ahead in the match.
The second set was close again and was even at 20-20 when kills from Samantha Johnson, Gabriella Lujan and Zoe Grolnic lifted the Falcons to a 25-21 win to even the contest 1-1.
It was Tabor's night though, as the Bluejays took the next two sets 25-21 and 25-18, winning each set on a service ace to close out the match.
Sydney Lentz led the Falcons with 16 kills and Lujan contributed 12 kills. Quinn Curran had 39 assists and Antonia Perier led four Falcons in double-figure digs with 20. Curran (13), Jenae Dearing (12) and Saidy Gonzalez (11) also had double-figure digs for Friends.
Liana McGonigle and Juliana Alaniz each had 20 kills to pace the Bluejays. Cocone Matsuzawa had a match-high 58 assists and Macy Rowan led Tabor with 20 digs.
The Falcons finish the season with a 15-15 record, an improvement of seven wins from last year.
