Men’s Soccer Falcons come away with 1-1 tie with Bethel

WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons and Bethel College Threshers played to a 1-1 draw today on Homecoming Saturday (Sept. 23) in KCAC action at Adair-Austin Stadium.

The Falcons had got on the board first when Futa Kubo perfectly executed a corner kick to Sora Shibata, who headed in the first goal of the match at the 28:26 mark of the opening half.

It stayed a one-goal Falcon lead until Adalsteinn Kristinsson scored off an assist from Lucas Pardo just over four minutes into the second half.

That would be all the scoring for the day, as the Falcons couldn't find the back of the net again despite having three shots glance off the post.

The box score stats reflected how tight the match was, as the Falcons held slim edges of 12-11 in overall shot attempts and 5-4 on-goal. Alvaro Quezada had a team-high three shots for the Falcons.

Just Guiting stopped three shots for the Falcons (2-3-3, 1-0-2 KCAC) and Sean Holness recorded four saves for Bethel (2-3-3, 1-1-1 KCAC).

The Falcons will remain at home and host the University of Saint Mary Wednesday night (Sept. 30) starting at 6 pm at Adair-Austin Stadium.
