Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Friends University Falcons are now 2-0 in the KCAC, thanks in large part to a two-goal effort by Yairee Perez that sparked a 3-0 victory at the Evangel University Valor tonight (Sept 20) in Springfield, Mo.
An own-goal put the Falcons in the front in the 29th minute, and it stayed that way until Perez equaled her career-high mark of two goals just four minutes apart in the second half.
Both of Perez's goals were assisted by Elisa Murrietta and came in the 53rd and 57th minutes of action that put the Falcons well on their way to the win.
Perez and Hanon Nakagami each had a team-high three shots for Friends, who out-shot Evangel 17-8 overall and 12-5 on-goal.
Morgan Wilkinson started at goalkeeper for the Falcons (3-3-1, 2-0 KCAC) and made one save before giving way to Nia Baker in the second half. Baker closed out the victory with four saves in the final 45 minutes.
Chloe Hancock started in the net for the Valor (2-5-1, 1-2 KCAC) and played the first 74:01 with seven saves and three goals allowed. Rylee Clapp then finished out the match and made two saves.
