Women's Soccer Falcons drop season opener at Benedictine

Box Score Atchison, Kan. -- The Friends University Falcons came up short in a 1-0 defensive battle at the Benedictine College Ravens in the 2023 season opener tonight (Aug. 17) for both teams. 
Despite being outshot 25-2, the Falcons hung in behind a combined 11 saves from starter Nia Baker (five saves) and Morgan Wilkinson (six saves) in each of their program debuts. 
The match was scoreless through the first half, but Benedictine broke through with a goal from Sam Mausbach in the 57th minute of the match. 
The Falcons will now open the home portion of the 2023 campaign next Wednesday night (Aug. 23) vs. Baker University. The match is set for 6:30 pm at Adair-Austin Stadium.
