WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons fell 2-0 to the top-seeded and No. 19-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles in the KCAC Women's Soccer tournament championship game today (Nov. 11) at Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita.
The Falcons played the Eagles to a standstill in the first half and went into the break in a scoreless tie.
But the second half was a different story, as the Eagles controlled possession and outshot the Falcons 10-1.
Linn Joelsson got the Eagles on the board with a goal in the ninth minute of the second half before Tania Mocholi, the NAIA's leading goal scorer, put it away with a score at the 78:26 mark.
The Eagles outshot the Falcons 17-4 overall, who were without leading scorer Keily Larosee due to an injury.
Nia Baker made eight saves for Friends (13-4-4), while Aida Sanchez stopped both shots-on-goal she faced for OKWU (16-2-3).
The Falcons have already qualified for their third NAIA National Tournament appearance in the last five years with their second-place showing in both the KCAC regular season and postseason tournament. The NAIA selection show is scheduled for Monday (Nov. 13) at noon.
